  • Science in Action: RiverWatch

    On Thursday, May 9th, Grade 9 Science students had a great opportunity to put science into practice.  Organized by Ms. Lapointe, the eager scientists headed down to the Beaver River.  Students were to examine flora, fauna and take water samples above and below a treated water inlfow point.  Thank yous go to staff for supervising the trip and Ms. Lapointe for making this unpredictable event happen!   • Class of 2013 Valedictorians Announcement!

    The CLHS staff wishes to congratulate Arianna Wychopen and Brandon White for being voted Class Valedictorians for 2013.  Brandon and Arianna are highly respected, high achieving academic students and are engaged in a variety of school activiities, making them wonderful role models.  We look forward to the words of wisdom to be shared on June 29th, 2013!

     
  • Ivan Boychuk Makes Team Alberta!

    Football Alberta announced the 40 players selected to Team Alberta 2013 this morning. Team Alberta is picked from the top high school football players at the U18 level (Grade 10 or 11).  This team was selected from 115 players who attended the Team Alberta Selection Camp over the past weekend at McMahon Stadium in Calgary. They will now represent Alberta at the Football Canada Cup in Moncton, New Brunswick from July 15-22.  The Football Canada Cup is a National Championship for Provincial Teams at the U18 level.  Royal, Ivan Boychuk, made the cut and will enjoy this great opportunity in the position of linebacker.  Congratulations Ivan!

Cold Lake High School

Cold Lake High School, located adjacent to Imperial Park and connected to Portage College and the Energy Centre, is a new facility that opened in August, 2009.  The high school will house up to 800 students from grades 9 to 12.  The facility includes a fully equipped Industrial Education Lab, Home Economics and Fashion area, a three stage gymnasium, a 205 seat theatre as well as a fitness room and a cafeteria with a commercially equipped kitchen.  The cafeteria will seat over 300 students.  Supporting the education of students is a technology backbone, whereby students will have access to MacIntosh computers on a wireless network throughout their stay in Cold Lake High School.

We believe that, given a safe and caring environment, all students can and will learn.  It is the duty of staff and students to help create and maintain that environment.  Each teacher is responsible for providing the best learning atmosphere possible and each student t is expected to access their educational opportunity to its fullest.  Parents are an integral part of the learning process and as such must assume a major role in the overall education of their children.
