ALERT STATUS: We have been informed of a positive COVID-19 case connected to the school. We are working closely with AHS to ensure necessary measures are in place to protect all students and staff. More information can be found HERE.

All students are required to complete the COVID-19 Alberta Health Daily Checklist before coming to school each day and follow the direction provided in the document if they answer "Yes" to any of the questions.

COVID-19 Notification

June 3, 2021:

We were recently informed of a case of COVID-19 connected to Cold Lake High School. We are working closely with Alberta Health Services (AHS) to ensure necessary measures are in place to protect all students and staff. 

Out of respect for this individual and in accordance with AHS guidelines, we cannot disclose personal details. Students and staff who are considered to be close contacts of the individual have been directed to stay home and await further direction from Alberta Health Services. 

If you have not received a phone call, your student has not been identified as a close contact at this time and can continue to attend school.  remains open for in-person learning with the current protocols that are in place for students and staff. Our custodians will be conducting enhanced cleaning protocols of the school, focusing on areas where the individual was present, along with our continued attention on high touch areas and surfaces throughout the school.

We remind parents/guardians of students, as well as staff, to monitor for any signs or symptoms of COVID-19. Please remember to complete the COVID-19 Alberta Health Daily Checklist each day prior to sending your child to school.  If your child has any of the symptoms on the checklist, please keep them at home and fill out the Alberta Health Services COVID-19 online self-assessment or call Health Link at 811.

If your child is tested for COVID-19 and the test result is positive, please contact the school as soon as possible so we can begin the process of identifying close contacts and informing them of the need to quarantine. 

We know this information may be upsetting for some of you and your children may have questions about what is happening.  AHS has developed COVID-19 information for young kids and students to help answer children’s questions. We have also shared additional resources on the NLPS website. If you, or anyone in your family, needs someone to talk to, the Mental Health Help Line is available 24/7 at 1-877-303-2642.

Northern Lights Public Schools was recently informed of a case of COVID-19 connected to Cold Lake High School. 

All students and staff who are considered close contacts of the individual have been contacted and directed to quarantine. All other staff and students have also been notified. Out of respect for privacy, and in accordance with Alberta Health Services guidelines, we cannot disclose any personal details about the positive case.

Cold Lake High School remains open to in-person learning and students who have not been identified as a close contact can continue to attend school. Students who are required to isolate will be supported by the school through online and remote learning methods. 

Our custodians will be conducting enhanced cleaning protocols of the school, focusing on areas where the individual was present, along with our continued attention on high touch areas and surfaces throughout the school.

We would like to remind all families and staff to continue to monitor for any signs or symptoms of COVID-19. Anyone who intends to enter a school building needs to complete the COVID-19 Alberta Daily Health Checklist and cannot enter the facility if they answer Yes to any of the questions. March 23, 2021:

Northern Lights was recently informed of an additional case of COVID-19 connected to Cold Lake High School. As there are now a total of three cases that are connected to the school, Alberta Health Services has initiated an investigation and has asked us to share the attached letter with all parents and guardians.

Alberta Health Services has also informed us that these cases are confirmed to be a COVID-19 variant of concern. AHS has assigned an EI Number to the school that should be used by anyone who has been identified as a close contact when they book an appointment to be tested for COVID-19. This will assist with contact tracing. The EI Number for Cold Lake High School is 2021-3082

All students and staff who are considered close contacts of the individual have been contacted and directed to self-isolate. All other staff and students have also been notified. 

All students will continue learning online from home as mandated by the provincial government, including those who are self-isolating.

We remind parents/guardians of students, as well as staff, to monitor for any signs or symptoms of COVID-19. Please remember to complete the COVID-19 Alberta Health Daily Checklist each day even if you are no longer attending in-person classes.  If your child has any of the symptoms on the checklist, please fill out the Alberta Health Services COVID-19 online self-assessment or call Health Link at 811.
